The first Russian brand of clothing in the style of minimalism — 20 years of VASSA&Co
VASSA&Co was founded in Russia in early 2000 and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The main designer of the brand Vassa (Vassa) was educated in America, at VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University). She has worked at Anne Klein, Calvin Klein, and Federated, and in 1996 showed her first designer collection in New York. In his work, Vassa mixes minimalism of New York and Russian constructivism and uses his main technique — the rejection of decor in favor of simple forms.
All VASSA&Co collections were created in a factory located in a historic building in the center of Moscow. The brand’s clothing has always been minimalistic and follows the less is more principle: a concise silhouette, clean lines, a minimum of decorative elements and high quality that allows you to wear things longer.
Vassa herself comments on a woman in the style of VASSA: “Before, I would have said that she is strong, unpredictable. Today-conscious, wise. It is multidimensional. Her awareness in rethinking her experience.”
Today, VASSA& Co is one of the few Russian brands with a wide network of branded stores and its own production facilities in Moscow. The company adheres to the rules of reasonable consumption and focuses on timeless aesthetics. All items are created from natural fabrics, using high-quality accessories and are produced in small batches. The main quality of the brand is the ability to transform in a changing reality and always remain true to yourself and your principles. The brand’s clothing is chosen by famous people not only in our country, but also abroad (Ivanka Trump is the daughter of Donald Trump, Amy Roebuck is the star of NBC news, Good morning America, and many others).
VASSA&Co was the first Russian premium brand with a unique concept, an author’s style in the aesthetics of Russian constructivism, exclusive quality and its own high-tech production on the basis of a historic clothing company in the center of Moscow.
This year, despite the harsh conditions during the pandemic, the company did not stop production and the new collection appeared in stores on time. Fast fashion was replaced by the concept of slow fashion and with it a conscious minimalistic functional wardrobe, so this year the company created a new line of Pincode-the code of freedom, comfort, conscious consumption. These are basic things at affordable prices, made in natural colors, easily combined with each other, the emphasis is on knitwear and outerwear: coats, down jackets, jackets. Special attention is paid to the environmental friendliness of the materials. In addition, in Moscow, after the reconstruction, the flagship boutique VASSA& Co was reopened on Novy Arbat. The minimalistic collections of the brand perfectly fit into the space created by the famous Russian architect Vadim Grekov.
